Welcome to the celebration of life for Manuel Gerard Torres, also known as “Manny”. Manuel was born on August 22, 1956, into the humble family of Jesse and Mary Torres. He was the youngest of 3 siblings (1 brother and 1 sister). Manuel's grandparents Casimiro and Dolores Torres raised him after the passing of his mother.
As a young boy, he lived in central Fort Worth. His family home was located at 504 Alston Street. As a student he attended elementary school at Stephen F. Austin Elementary, then Ernest Parker Middle School, followed by Trimble Tech High School where he graduated in 1974. While at Trimble Tech Manuel studied as an electrician. During high school Manuel worked at “Forget Me Not Florist” from 1972-1979 delivering flowers. After that he worked TexPack for Tom Adams as a delivery driver and dock handler 1974-1979. In 1979 he was hired at Gearheart Owens and worked there for 6 months. He gained valuable experience then went onto apply at General Dynamics in 1980 as B Painter and Priming in Building II. Manuel was laid off in 1996 and went onto work at Bell Helicopter. He also worked at Lockheed Martin Missile and Gun Control in Grand Prairie as a painter. He returned and retired from Lockheed Martin officially retired on Sept 1, 2024. The next stage of Manuel's life took place, when he met Virginia in 1985 soon after they were married and started a family. Their first-born Evelyn was born in 1987, and their second child Aaron was born in 1989. They lived in North Fort Worth, before moving to West Fort Worth where they hosted and entertained many family gatherings like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Manuel and Virginia dissolved their marriage in 2010 but remained friends because they had family to raise such as their children and grandchildren. Their eldest grandchild is Jayden Manuel followed by Arthur Rubalcaba, and the youngest Johnny Martinez.
Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Sr and Mary Torres.
He is survived by Virgina Torres; children, Evelyn Torres and Aaron Torres; grandchildren, Jayden Rubalcaba, Arthur Rubalcaba, and Johnny Martinez siblings: Jesse Torres Jr and Adela Dyer and extended family and friends. Manuel requested to be buried at Oakwood cemetery located by downtown Fort Worth, many might wonder why that location. Manuel's best friend from middle school was killed in 1969 car accident, his name was Ronald Gonzales. He was laid to rest at Oakwood cemetery.
Lastly, the family is very thankful for the outpour of prayers, love and condolences during this difficult time. They look forward to celebrating the life of Manuel Gerard Torres. A beloved father, grandfather, and brother.
