Ismael ‘Ysmo’ Vela, 74, was born in Yorktown, TX but made Fort Worth his home for over 50 years. A loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend left to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on June 12th, 2022.
He made many valued friends and relationships during his long career as a barber in the Northside of Fort Worth. Many times, the barbershop was full of customers having a great time in conversation as they waited for their turn for a haircut with Ysmo. His conversations and counsel will truly be missed. He loved his Dallas Cowboys and loved the game of golf, the conversations (some may say were more like arguments) could go on for hours.
He was a very private man, his circle was small, but his heart was big. Ysmo was very dedicated to his granddaughters as they were the light in his world. He cherished every second with them and always looked forward to their conversations. He was proud of Loren who he called ‘India’, Katherine who he lovingly called ‘Loca’, but his most precious prize was the baby, Rickie Ann, who he called ‘Pinky’.
He will be missed dearly but we know he will be watching over us.
