Diana Lu Kalis, 75, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026. Born on March 7, 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Diana lived a life filled with creativity, curiosity, and deep love for her family.
Diana was an extraordinarily gifted woman whose talents touched nearly every corner of her life. As a young person she excelled in gymnastics and showed remarkable artistic ability—so much so that she was offered an art scholarship. She could draw and paint virtually anything that captured her imagination. Music was another lifelong passion; she sang beautifully and played many instruments. She also had a deep love of sewing and design, creating slipcovers, curtains, and her own clothing, and she took great joy in interior design and décor. Diana was endlessly curious and continually educated herself about healthy living, food, clothing, dishes, and plants. Above all, she cherished her family and delighted in seeing their photos and updates on social media.
Diana is survived by her son Justin and his wife Sonja; her daughter Nina; eight grandchildren—Craig and Sandy, Kayla and Jason, Rasheena and her husband Kenneth, Jazeya and her fiancé Jerrod, Cole, Jusias and Madaline, Juson and Janet, and Jaden and his wife Socorro; seven great-grandchildren—Ky, Nova, Apollo, Brooke, Avah, Andre, and Blair; her sister Renee and her husband Peter; her sister Jeannie; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Fred, her mother Elma, her brother Craig, her sister Lillian, Tina, and Elizabeth.
A private gathering for immediate family will be held at Hawkins Family Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 10, 2026. A Celebration of Life will take place in Minnesota in the spring or summer of 2027.
Diana’s creativity, warmth, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
